Little Harvest Farm
Hunger is an issue that continues cause havoc on the Black community. Being able to provide the basic necessity like food is something that many Black families can start doing in their backyards.
Jenna and Delroy Dennisur are two local Black farmers that recognized the importance of growing their own food, in 2020, when covid-19 caused a strain on the world as we knew it. During this period, many families throughout America went without food. Families starved not knowing when their next meal will come. The pandemic which we are still facing today, caused a shift for the Dennisur family to focus on self sustainability.
Learning how to farm via YouTube, reading, trial & error. The best way to learn farming is to fail fast but fail forward. Starting off small growing herbs on their balcony in Boston. Now on the their land, they grow sunflowers, tomatoes, peppers, okra, green beans, watermelon, strawberries and much more. The food we consume from the grocery stores lose over 80% of their nutrients by the time we buy them. The food is picked unripened, sprayed with chemicals to preserve them, then transported for days to the stores for us to consume.
